Zouch - Bridge Closure

Today Wed 18th Feb 2026

The main road in Zouch from the junction of Derby Road in Hathern will be closed to all traffic from Monday 2nd March 2026 for a period of 18 weeks.

During this time, the current Bridge which was built in the early 1930's will be replaced with a new structure to meet the demands of today's traffic levels.

So that these bridge works can be undertaken, the current route that ROUTE 66 operates will need to change from Monday 2nd March 2026 as follows:

  • All journeys will start and finish at Zouch Main Road
  • A revised timetable, which is shown below, will be in place during the closure
  • New connections between Zouch, Sutton Bonington and Kegworth towards Loughborough
  • Journeys in Kegworth will operate via Side Ley providing bus services to this end of the village

Travelling from Sutton Bonington

For customers travelling from Sutton Bonington, the bus will commence from the bottom end of the village, therefore you will need to wait on the opposite side of the road than you currently do for journeys towards Loughborough, which will also provide access to Kegworth Village for shopping.

Timetable information displayed in Sutton Bonington will clearly advise the direction of travel to assist customers.

Travelling from Zouch

For customers travelling from Zouch, the bus will not be serving the Caravan Park during this closure. All journeys will start and finish at the Main Road stop, therefore if you are travelling towards Loughborough, you will need to wait on the opposite side of the road than at present.

Journey times from Zouch will increase during the closure of Zouch Bridge, as the bus will need to travel in an anticlockwise direction. At present the bus is scheduled to take around 10 minutes for your journey to/from Loughborough, which will increase to 29 minutes during the closure, therefore please plan your journey accordingly.

The works at Zouch Bridge are also taking place at the same time as the Network Rail closure on Rempstone Road, Sutton Bonington to minimise the disruption.

Timetable information displayed in Zouch will clearly advise the direction of travel to assist customers.

Zouch Caravan Park

For anyone requiring journeys to/from Zouch Caravan Park, you will need to access the Nottsbus on demand service (Z4).

You can find the details in relation to this service here.

Partnership Working

The replacement of the bridge at Zouch is a major project and therefore it is important to note the many people who have been involved in this project to ensure that bus services are maintained during what will be a long period of time .

The project has also led to cross boundary discussions. CT4N would therefore like to thank the Public Transport Teams at Nottinghamshire County Council, Leicestershire County Council alongside Eric Wright Civil Engineering for their assistance.
