Announcement
Storm Goretti
The Met Office have issued yellow amber warnings across many parts of the UK with the arrival of Storm Goretti.
The warnings are for snow from 17:00 Thursday 8th January until 12:00 Friday 9th January across the East Midlands with some forecasters predicting between 10 and 20 mm of snow.
At this moment in time, we don't know what the outcome of these warnings will be, however these weather conditions could lead to:
- Delays or cancellations to services
- Roads inaccessible especially in rural areas where gritting has not taken place
As with all transport operators, we have a duty of care to ensure that our customers and drivers are safe and that we prepare for any eventualities, which includes:
- Assessing routes, especially where buses may be exposed to serving roads where gritting does not normally take place, for example estates/side roads.
- Cancelling some journeys at short notice due to worsening changing road conditions.
- Unable to serve sections of routes where it has been deemed unsafe either due to road conditions or there is a possibility of buses getting stuck.
School Services
We will be in discussion with the schools we serve regarding their protocols for these types of weather conditions. Therefore please look out for up-to-date information/messages from schools regarding opening/closing during this period.
