QMC Roadworks - Update

Today Tue 3rd Mar 2026

The current roadworks which are taking place between QMC Roundabout and Priory Island are once again impacting on the reliability of the services that we operate at CT4N and therefore we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers.

To provide an example, Service 18b which operates between Nottingham, Beeston Rylands and Beeston sees regular delays Monday to Friday afternoon, with some journeys taking between 18 and 27 minutes longer to operate than on a Saturday, when the service can keep to time.

Not only has this impacted on the reliability, but also confidence in the service that we are providing.

The comments that always comes back to us as an operator is "Why don't you operate more buses, or put out a spare bus" The cost for operating one bus alone is over £200k per annum, so this is not an option unless there is additional funding provided.

Whilst we accept roadworks and major projects have to take place, the current works taking place between the QMC and Priory Island has seen no additional bus measures put in place. Our team of drivers have to sit in all the traffic queuing along University Boulevard and therefore this erodes the timetable and the drivers hours permitted, for which we then have to adjust.

Barry Allitt, Managing Director for CT4N is meeting with Juliet Campbell MP on Thursday 5th March and will discuss these matters further.

The end of these current works cannot come sooner enough and a return to operating a reliable bus service for our customers.
